Cerama Bryte DOES NOT RECOMMEND changing the blade in the Cooktop Scraper; however, if you wish to do so this How-To video shows the steps.
Handling a razor sharp blade can be dangerous. Cerama Bryte does not recommend changing the single edge razor blade. The Cooktop Scraper should last a long time if properly used and wiped clean after every use.
If you want to replace the razor blade and if you feel confident in safely handling a razor blade, the easier and safer way to change the blade is as follows:
First, disengage the tab that holds the scraper together.
Place the closed Cooktop Scraper on a firm surface or in your hand with the side that says “Made in USA” facing up. You can be sure that the scraper is closed when the plastic lip protrudes over the scraper and you cannot see the blade.
There is a square hole on the bottom of the scraper handle under where it says “Made in USA”.
With one of your hands holding the bottom part of the handle of the scraper, take a pen or screw driver and use it like a lever and pry up the tab under the tab below “Made in USA”. Lift up until the tab of the bottom piece of scraper disengages from top piece.
While holding the bottom half of the scraper with one hand, use your other hand to slide the top half away from tab. Lift the top piece from the bottom piece to expose the single edge razor blade.
Carefully remove the blade and discard in a safely in a waste container. Place a new blade in its place.
Finally put the scraper back together. Use special caution as the blade can become exposed when reseating the two halves of the scraper.
Keep your hands clear of the razor end of the scraper. Slide the top half of the scraper back into the lower half. The tab will reengage with a click.
Your new razor blade is in place to safely use on your cooktop.
