A loyal Cerama Bryte customer called the offices thrilled to tell us of success using our Cooktop Cleaner. This customer had been using the cleaner on his glass shower doors, "which had all sorts of hard water marks and soap scum built up and Cerama Bryte almost magically wiped it all away. I read about doing that on your label but wondered why a cooktop cleaner would work in the shower. I tried so many other things without success I finally figured, 'why not?'"

We recently saw a tip for cleaning sinks. Sort of an "easy home remedy for dirty sinks" was the theme. The "tip" included assembling three ingredients, plus water and an assortment of brushes and sponges. It was estimated that this approach would take 15 minutes. We weren't sure if that time was just to get all the "stuff" together or if that included cleaning time too.
We would suggest just grabbing a bottle of Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaner and a cleaning pad. Works great on porcelain, cultured marble (bathrooms) and stainless steel sinks.
Simply squirt some of the cleaner around in the sink, use a soft cloth or paper towel to spread it around. Of course, a cleaning pad works great too. Then, simply rinse clean. But remember, please don't use the cleaning pad from your sink on your cooktop, it could transfer particles that could scratch the surface.
If you have a stubborn stain, like fruit juice, coffee or tea, you can let the cleaner set on the stain for just a few minutes then wipe and rinse. The fresh-cleaned citrus scent is all that remains!
Pre-moistened, portable and disposable. The cleaning wipe is the found-everywhere-solution to all cleaning needs. Cleaning wipes are still a handy-dandy marvel, right? Of course! Or, well, not quite. Here, let us explain:
The origins of cleaning wipes, more commonly known as wet wipes or moist towelettes, traces back to the 1950s. From their earliest incarnations wipes have been meant to provide a quick and easy cleaning solution. What a “genius” idea. Sealed away in a foil-lined packet the disposable towel was pre-moistened , fit neatly into a purse or pocket and was a ready substitute when soap and running water were either inconvenient (car travel) or unavailable.
The wipes evolution has gone from just hands and face cleaning for the on-the-go family (or rib joint aficionado) to the explosive growth with “baby wipes” to where today if it needs to be cleaned, there’s probably a wipe for the job. And there’s even a museum dedicated to wipes.
With so many wipes for so many uses, why does Cerama Bryte offer just two different cleaning wipes, the Touchups Wipes and the Stainless Steel Wipes?
We agree that the wipes concept is appealing. The pre-moistened wipe can be a very quick, easy and convenient cleaning option. Simply pull a wipe from the canister, no need to get a separate cleaning product, and start cleaning, or wiping. When you’re done, just toss the soiled wipe away. In fact, that approach is the basis for the Cerama Bryte Touchups Wipes. They’re excellent for light cleaning and quick touchups.
In a similar fashion Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Wipes quickly remove fingerprints, water spots and food stains while leaving a protective shine. We’re proud of our wipes and think they are a very good part of your household cleaning arsenal. Top-quality cleaning formulas in the convenient format we all know and use. However, they aren’t always the best answer. We believe there are a few limitations that keep wipes from being the answer to everything.
Clean hands. You can clean just about everything, but not your hands. The “beauty” of the wipe is that each cloth is, or should be, saturated with the cleaning solution. That’s part of what makes them quick and convenient but unless you wear gloves while cleaning, you’re going to get the cleaning product on your hands too and likely then need to wash your hands after you’re done cleaning. This is especially true with our Stainless Steel wipes which utilize food-grade mineral oil which can leave your hands feeling oily.
Goldilocks Syndrome. You remember the fairy tale gal where beds were too hard or too soft and food was too hot or too cold? Depending on your preference a cleaning wipe can be too wet or too dry. There can be quite a balancing act between making sure there’s enough moisture in the wipes to do the job without being a too wet, sloppy mess. And that gets even harder when calculating a freshly opened canister and figuring how long after being opened some wipes need to retain moisture to continue working.
Defying Gravity. It’s an inspiring song and fun for astronauts but nearly impossible for cleaning wipes. Believe it or not, when the canister of wipes sits on the shelf, either at the store before you buy them or after you take them home gravity is actually pulling the moisture in each wipe downward. Think of hanging up a wet towel and coming back to find the center, near the towel bar dry but the tips of the towel are still wet. Gravity is pulling the water down and can leave the top parts of the towel, or towelette, dry even in a closed container.
Disposable. Yes, but not flushable. Even when wipes are labeled as “flushable” there have been many stories of clogged drains and even blockages in municipal sewer systems. There are some communities that are considering legislation against wipes.
Cerama Bryte continues to explore options and innovations in the wipes world and will only offer wipes for products where the effectiveness of the cleaner is not degraded.
